We are delighted to announce that netball sharp shooter Amelia Mead (Year 7) has been selected for the ENG Sports UK programme.
The programme is committed to making sure young athletes have the best starts in their sporting career. ENG Sports UK look to find some of the UK's most talented athletes, providing them with the necessary tools to go and achieve their dreams.
Amelia started playing netball in Year 4 with MK netters, usually playing as Goal Shooter or Goal Attack. She currently plays for North Bucks County, the MK Netters Regional U13 team and the U12 Diamonds Team at MK Netters. This season, the Diamonds are undefeated locally, winning both the Tri Counties League and tournament last weekend. Amelia was voted umpires player of the competition.
This year has been her busiest and most successful year with the Diamonds. The team recently qualified for the U12 National Finals, placing top 12 in the country.
Miss Huckle (Head of Netball) said: “Amelia only joined us in September; she has been a wonderful addition to our school netball team and brings a wealth of knowledge with her. She is a smart netball player who has a lot of potential and I hope that BGS will create an environment where she can thrive. It is great to see Amelia, and other girls, playing at such a high level outside of school.”
