On Wednesday 6th March, 14 Year 10 students attended We Day, a social action event held at Wembley Arena. The day consisted of world-renowned speakers and award-winning performers, mixed with real inspirational stories of leadership and change from teenagers from across the UK. Read student reflections from the day below:
Ella Craven – “It really inspired me when Nikki Christou and Isabelle Weall came on stage, they were so confident with their appearance, and spoke to us about their journey and what they had been through.”
Emily Fordham – “I found it eye opening to hear about how events in people’s lives have greatly affected them, such as the victims from the London stabbings. It was moving to hear how they didn’t let their traumatic event take over their life, but they found their voice and spoke out to stop it happening to others.”
Katie Bradley – “We heard motivational talks from many ambassadors such as Prince Harry and Iskra Laurence. They discussed social issues such as body image and gender equality, and how our generation can make a difference. Overall, it was a very entertaining and interesting day, which has left me feeling inspired and motivated to go out and do more good things for charity. It also helped me to understand that despite your age, your voice can be heard and you can make a difference.
Meranie Kairu - “It was heartening hearing about how young people had made a difference in their communities and to others. One of the moments I enjoyed the most was the presentation about how knife crime affects children and teenagers in the UK by Amani Simpson and Temi Mwale. I was intrigued by the way they both used their pain and experiences to help others and how Temi Mwale started The 4Front organisation at the age of 16.”
