On Thursday 30th January, Year 9 participated in the Positive Relationships Day, as part of their PSHE curriculum. They worked together with staff to understand how to recognise and sustain healthy relationships, and how consent is the foundation on which trust and commitment are built.
The girls were visited by speakers from Brook and It Happens, who helped them understand how to keep themselves safe and healthy in future intimate relationships.
The girls participated enthusiastically, and had many thoughtful questions, which were answered at the end of the day. We hope they are now equipped to consider their personal and family values to inform the choices they will make about relationships and intimacy in the future.
Mrs Lang, Drama teacher and Head of PSHE, said: “The sessions were straight-talking, open and honest. The speakers took the awkwardness out of the sensitive topics, allowing the students to ask the many questions they have in a safe space.”
