As the festive season approaches there is a whole array of musical events coming up to showcase the amazing talents of BGS students, and to help get everyone in the Christmas spirit!
The highlight of the season, Winter Wonderland (the Senior School Christmas Concert) will take place at 7pm, Wednesday 4th December. Rehearsals are already in full swing, and the students are preparing an unforgettable evening of music!
Our Senior Orchestra will transport us to a magical world with Tchaikovsky’s Waltz of the Flowers from The Nutcracker Ballet, followed by a thrilling journey to the high seas with a powerful performance of Hans Zimmer’s iconic score from Pirates of the Caribbean.
Bel Canto will enchant the audience with a selection of choral classics, including Elgar’s serene The Snow, Eric Whitacre’s tender The Seal Lullaby, and the festive favourite Carol of the Bells by Minna Louise Hohman. Meanwhile, the Genesis Choir will take us back to 1960s Baltimore with a medley from the beloved musical Hairspray.
The evening will also feature various ensembles, solos, and duets, along with special performances by BGS bands Counteract and Astrophe, fresh from their Open Mic Night success! And, for an extra dose of holiday spirit, the Massed Year 7 choir will be performing Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day by John Gardner (no… not our John Gardner) and possibly something by Mariah Carey…
We look forward to seeing you there in December. Bring your vocal cords warmed up and be ready to sing along, audience participation will be expected!
