Whole School Sport

Mrs Milton (PE teacher)

As a way of keeping both Junior and Senior School students engaged and feeling motivated to keep up with their exercise routines, we have asked students to record a lesson by lesson journal for PE. The idea is that the girls take photos, screenshots, write up their activities after each lesson, so not only can we see what they are up to but also see how their motivation is going. It is to be expected in stressful times that energy levels may raise and fall, and somethings just by sharing what they are doing the girls are able to remind themselves they are on the right track or we are able to reach out and give them a bit of extra encouragement. During Mental health week we also want to remind the girls just what an important role exercise plays in mental health.

We have created a template in google slides, and each new slide represents a lesson, providing a clear record. The students are free to be as creative as they wish in the presentation, creating attractive backgrounds and funny comments!

Prior to each lesson, the PE staff provide activities for the girls to choose from, so the journals also provide a good platform to see what is popular and how the girls have used a range of activities and facilities. It has been a great way for us to see what other sports the girls are into outside the mainstream sports delivered at school.

Keep active, keep healthy!
