During the Easter holidays, the talented BGS equestrian team competed in the National School’s Equestrian Association (NSEA) Show Jumping qualifiers for the National and Grassroots Championships later in the summer.
As sport resumed under safe COVID guidelines, the equestrians were delighted to finally be back in the saddle competing against schools from across the UK in the much-anticipated competition at Bury Farm Equestrian Centre.
The Junior and Senior Show Jumping Teams braved all manner of weather from extreme wind, rain and even snow at one point! Individual and team qualifications were gained in the NSEA National Championships and Plate Championships. The 100cm Team won their class to qualify and compete at Hickstead All England show jumping ground in the summer.
There are exciting times ahead for the riders with more competitions throughout the summer. The school team is open to all riders that enjoy competing, at all levels. Riders must have access to a pony and have transport available to events. The school take part in show jumping, dressage and arena eventing classes across the south east region. Interested? Please contact the PE department for details of this parent-led activity.
