Mrs Bullerwell (PE Administrator)

After a short hiatus, it was a joy it was to see all the tennis courts full with students competing once again in the BGS Tennis Championships.

This year, due to the COVID restrictions, all the matches were held within each year group bubbles. 145 students from Years 3 to Lower Sixth competed in playing mini round robin competitions against everyone in their box. The top two competitors from each box went through to the main draw, where the knock-out rounds began.

Congratulations to everyone who played. Many players have represented school numerous times this summer, but for some it was their first experience of tournament play.

A big thank you to the PE staff who helped on the day, but special thanks to the Lower Sixth tennis players who umpired from 8:30am-2:00pm, before playing their own highly competitive matches. Thank you to some of the Year 8 competitors who also stayed behind to assist the Year 6 orange ball competition.
