Miss Huckle (Head Rowing Coach)
On Sunday 27th February, 14 rowers from BGS headed to London to compete on the famous Tideway stretch of the Thames, home of the Oxford vs Cambridge Boat Race, to race at Hammersmith Head. After the stormy weather, it was fantastic to enjoy a beautiful sunny day on the Thames as our Senior eight and four negotiated the tidal waters, learning lots about their racing line in preparation for Women’s Eights Head and Schools Head held on the same piece of water in two weeks time.
Both crews raced well, and produced solid rows on the day gaining invaluable experience as they prepared to race at some of our ‘Big Five’ events on this prestigious course. We now look forward to racing at the Women’s Eights Head on Saturday 12th March, The Schools Head on Monday 14th March and The National Junior Sculling Head on Wednesday 16th March.
We would like to thank all parents and friends of the Boat Club for their support so far this season, and very much welcome you to continue to enjoy supporting our rowers over the coming spring and summer months.
