Following the launch of the Campaign Challenge in January, the Lower Sixth students have been working in small groups to choose a social issue they feel passionate about and design a campaign to inspire and educate the BGS community about this issue.
Kimya Ghods (Lower Sixth) reflected on her group's Be Positive campaign: “The past term has been really exciting as we have been working on our campaign project. We decided to focus on being positive as we felt that even though it is important to learn and educate ourselves about social issues outside of school it is also important and needed to focus on ourselves.
“This was proven by our first planned event where we cut out many pieces of bright coloured paper and handed them to each form for peers to write notes of positivity about each other, the feedback of this was amazing as teachers and students loved the idea. For our second event we collected the coloured positivity notes and connected them all to make bunting. This is now displayed on the staircase outside of the LRC, make sure to go and see it!
“Currently, we are creating funny and motivating messages to place up around the mirrors in the school. We have also created an instagram account @bethepositivebgs to document our journey, such as our campaign video and updates on what we are doing. We hope to continue with this project even when the three weeks are over as we feel this is an important topic that everyone will benefit from.”
