A gold medal winning Olympian dropped by at the Bedford International Athletics Stadium on Monday evening to deliver a very special track and field session to our super excited students and staff!

Inspirational GB heptathlete, Denise Lewis OBE, shared tips and advice on warming up techniques, passing the baton during a relay, the art of throwing the javelin and sprint drills.

Mrs Mason-McLeod (Director of Sport) said: “It was a real honour to host Denise Lewis at our school athletics practise on Monday. The students gained a deeper insight into the mechanics of a number of athletic disciplines along with some general tips on how to battle with your inner demons and achieve great things. A number of students had their running spikes signed and there were many photo opportunities too. It truly was a great afternoon!”

A huge thank you to Denise Lewis for hosting such an awe-inspiring masterclass across a number of disciplines in preparation for our athletes heading to National Finals next week and the Senior School Sports Day that took place on Wednesday.

Since retiring from athletics after winning gold at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, Denise Lewis has carved out a successful career as a TV presenter and sports pundit for the BBC, regularly hosting live coverage of high-profile sporting events including the London, Rio and Tokyo Olympics.

Thank you, Denise, it was an absolute pleasure to meet you!
