Alumnae and Student Summer Art and Textiles Exhibition - Celebrating our artistic heritage.
On Thursday 30th June, after a long break, the Art and Textiles departments were delighted to be able to invite guests back into school to see some amazing work. As a part of BGS’ ten year anniversary celebrations, this year's annual Summer Exhibition showcased not only wonderful A Level and GCSE students' work but the work of our brilliant alumnae also - and WOW, what a show it was!
Collaborating with our alumnae enabled the show to highlight the incredible artistic heritage of BGS, Bedford High School and Dame Alice Harpur School with an array of work from former students. With 19 alumnae submitting work for the exhibition, it was wonderful to be able to invite our BGS community back to see the fruits of their family and friends' hard work. The exhibition featured a vast range of styles from garment construction, felting, photography, drawing, painting, video installation, ceramics and textiles.
You can read more about the alumnae work submitted here.
Mrs Lugsden (Head of the Art and Textiles) said: “The standard was incredibly high, and it was touching to read comments in the visitor’s book where the show was described as ‘inspiring’ by so many. Hosting an inaugural alumnae exhibition alongside our annual show, proved a real source of inspiration for students, to see where they could take their creative skills in the future.”
A huge thank you and well done to all involved in this event.
