With public examinations being sat across GCSE, the IB Diploma and A Levels for the first time since 2019, we are extremely proud of our students who produced phenomenal results across all three qualifications.
80% of the entries have been awarded A*-B (combined A Level and IB Diploma). Over 95% of students accepted a place at their first or insurance place university and a number of students have opted for apprenticeship programmes.
These results are made every more impressive given the turbulence that this cohort have experienced since the beginning of the pandemic. Their success is testament to their hard work, determination and commitment together with the outstanding support that the Bedford Girls’ School teachers and wider team have provided.
Our IB cohort performed extremely well achieving an average score of 40 points (against a worldwide average of 29), including a student who achieved an exceptional 44 points out of a possible maximum 45 points. The cohort all accepted places at their first-choice universities.
GCSE results were also outstanding with 70% of all entries being graded 9-7.
The school values all of the diverse journeys that students choose to take with their qualifications. The rich and varied mix of further study courses is testament to this: Medicine, Law, Aerospace Engineering, Astro Physics and Computer Science to Psychology, Economics, English and Fashion Marketing. Destinations include Oxford, Edinburgh, Loughborough, Sheffield, Goldsmiths, Bristol, Exeter, Newcastle, UCL, Warwick and York to name a few.
Mrs Gemma Gibson (Headmistress) commented “I am so proud of these students, they missed the opportunity to take GCSE examinations, their Lower Sixth was significantly marred by the impact of COVID but they have continued to work extremely hard, and come out not only with excellent results but with the intellect and skills to be the change makers of tomorrow; I have no doubt that they will make a difference to the world around them and I wish them great success with the next stage of their education.”
