On Sunday 11th September 2022, three BGS students competed at the British Schoolgirls’ indoor ski races, held on the indoor ski slope in Milton Keynes. The BGS team of Holly Tutt (Year 11), Chloe Peck (Year 11) and Helen Dickson (Year 8) all competed in the individual slalom event, in which they completed two runs each. All three students skied very well, and approached the course with confidence putting solid times on the scoreboard. With all three skiers improving their performance on the second run, the team entered into the team phase of the competition with confidence.

Holly Tutt put in a particularly impressive performance, not only finishing in 1st place in the U16 event, but also in the overall competition, beating 108 skiers to claim the title. At the end of July, Holly was selected for the U16 England Alpine Squad for the forthcoming 2022/23 ski racing season.

In the first round of the parallel slalom relay event, BGS went head-to-head against Burgess Hill.  The team secured a fantastic win in this race which saw all three skiers winning their leg of the relay. The team progressed to the next round, where they narrowly missed out to a very strong South Hampstead High School Team.

It was a fantastic day of racing, with all members of the team achieving their own individual successes, as well as their success as a team.

A huge thank you to the parents that supported the team in the lead up to and on the day – a brilliant team effort! Well done to the whole team, and we look forward to returning to the slopes for more competitions in the future.
