Mr Drapela (Careers and Sixth Form Administrator)
Continuing on from our last week’s Lunch Box Lecture, we were excited to welcome back to school BGS Alumna Bella Taylor (2019).
After completing the IB Diploma, Bella graduated this summer with a First-Class Degree in Applied Psychology from the Royal Holloway, University of London, before shortly embarking on a MSc in Applied Paediatric Neuropsychology at UCL.
Bella has had quite the exciting and rewarding journey since her days at BGS. She now works as a trained counsellor with Childline, a free and confidential service supporting anyone under 19 with any issues they may be facing. Additionally, she also works with Mind, an organisation focused on providing advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem.
Bella was a refreshing speaker who inspired our students as she focused on transferable skills, lessons that she has learned and where her academic journey has taken her and is continuing too as she is currently studying for her masters.
Bella urged our students to venture into multiple routes when it comes to their future psychology studies or other academic endeavours, for no one route is the same or superior. She reminded her audience the lessons to be learned by encountering difficult situations, the value of pushing yourself outside your comfort zone and that each of us have the ability to build our skills in a variety of different ways and gain experience in diverse positions.
We are pleased to have kicked off the academic year and the start of our Lunch Box Lecture series with a couple of amazing guests, as well as alumnae. After half -term we are excited to welcome guests of notable companies such as Nike and Amazon, so be on the lookout.
