We were delighted to open our doors to the public on Saturday for the Whole School Open Morning.
It was wonderful to welcome current and prospective families to the school to get a feel for what life is like at BGS.
With Mrs Gibson (Headmistress) and Oluwatobiloba Apesin (Head Girl) getting the morning off to an exciting start in the Senior School Assembly Hall, students and staff then proceeded to do a brilliant job of giving visitors a tour of the school.
The school was full of energy and excitement with all departments demonstrating a plethora of activities including a whole range of sports to try in the Sports Hall; language games in MFL; fun science experiments in the labs and ICreate space.
In the Drama and Dance department, rehearsals were in full flow for the A Level Devised Performances, there were displays from the Year 8 model making project and a pop-up installation of the upcoming production of Bugsy Malone, a collaborative production with Bedford School.
Meanwhile in the newly renovated Sixth Form Common Room, now known as The Hub, Mrs Woolley (Director of Sixth Form), and her team chatted to potential Sixth Form families, discussing options and aspirations. Families also got to sample delicious treats in the new Chequers Café.
Over in the Junior School our Years 4, 5 and 6 students were fantastic tour guides, encouraging prospective pupils to try out many activities including producing beautiful Autumnal leaf rubbing artwork using wax crayons and learning about the Earth's structure with Mars bars and oranges!
The visitors then listened to presentations delivered by Mrs Howe (Head of Junior School) and one of the Junior School Ambassadors, Evie (Year 6).
During the morning, visitors also enjoyed musical performances from our talented students at various points of the school – they really added to the vibrant atmosphere.
