We are thrilled to announce that BGS has been honoured as the Most Inclusive School (Senior Category) by the judges of the Muddy Stilettos Best Schools Awards for our commitment to being a welcoming and inclusive community!

This fantastic achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of our whole school community.

At BGS, we embrace individuality and recognise that our differences make us collectively stronger. Since our formation in 2012, we have embedded the International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy into our educational approach, nurturing creative thinkers, change-makers and problem-solvers of the future. Central to this ambition is ensuring every student feels they belong.

Our award-winning submission highlighted our strategic focus on inclusiveness, particularly through our School Development Plan (2021-24), which prioritises Diversity & Inclusion (D&I). This includes our comprehensive staff training, inclusive curriculum reviews and the introduction of more inclusive school events. Our D&I Pledge commits us to being a warm and welcoming environment for all, celebrating our differences and constructively challenging discrimination.

We have also enhanced our recruitment process to demonstrate our commitment to an inclusive community. Our curriculum now includes diverse perspectives, and we have introduced inclusive options in our PE uniform and school calendar to accommodate a wide range of beliefs and causes.

We are proud of the strong sense of community at BGS, where student and staff voices are valued and heard. Our student-led clubs, advocacy initiatives and revised charities programme reflect our commitment to inclusion. We actively work to increase role modelling through our alumnae and guest speakers, ensuring a range of political views, characteristics, beliefs and ethnic backgrounds are represented.

Mrs Gibson (Headmistress) said: “I am immensely proud that we have won this prestigious award. We were up against some very well-known schools, and the panel of judges included leading educationalists. This accolade is a testament to the entire BGS community and all that you do to ensure BGS stands out as an exceptional, welcoming environment.”
