It's been a busy few weeks for our swimmers and aquathlon athletes who continue to impress at various competitions.

Last weekend saw the East Region Winter Swimming Championships; this is an Open Age competition involving the Region’s fastest swimmers.

Eloise Cole (Year 10) put in outstanding performances and broke the Junior (U16) Bedfordshire County Records in the 50m Back, 50m Fly and 50m Free. She also broke the Senior County Records in the 50m Back and 50m Fly. Which is a fantastic achievement. Eloise took Bronze in the 50m Back final and very narrowly finished 4th in the 50m Fly final.

Equally impressive was Lucy Young (Lower Sixth) who raced in six events and achieved three personal best times. Both Eloise and Lucy together with their teams, the Modernian Swimming Club, are now looking forward to the ESSA National relay finals. This event is taking place at the London Aquatics Centre in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on Saturday 19th November.

During the half term break, our talented Years 3-9 athletes competed in the Bedford Aquathlon on Sunday 16th October. An Aquathlon is a continuous swimming and running event of varying distances for different age groups. All the competitors really enjoyed the event and are looking forward to the next Aquathlon in May next year.

Many congratulations to the following athletes:

Year 3 - swim 66 metres and run 600 metres

1st Grace Jackson

Year 7 - swim 200 metres and run 1.9km

Years 8 - swim 333 metres and run 2.8km
