Equestrians Scoop County Titles

Our determined equestrians had a very early chilly start on Sunday morning with -5 Degrees Celsius temperatures at Bury Farm, Leighton Buzzard.

Undaunted by the high level of competition at the National Schools Home Counties Show Jumping Championship, our talented riders competed against a huge number of schools from Herts, Beds, Bucks and Northants.

Representing the school was new member Brooke Bendall (Year 8) riding Barney and other team members Larissa Brown (Year 7) riding Ellie & Honey, Lucy Maudlin (Year 8) riding Twister, Jessica Yeoman (Year) 10) riding Frank, Isabelle Perry (Year 11) riding Queenie and Emily Armitage (Upper Sixth) riding Belle.

It was certainly worth the early cold start, with the 80cm & 90cm Teams crowned Bedfordshire County Champions: Larissa and Ellie and Isabelle and Queenie claimed the 80cm and 90cm individual County titles, respectively.

Larissa and Ellie were stars of the show, also taking the win against 94 competitors in the 80cm individual class with their incredibly speedy clear round.

This success now takes the Teams and Individuals through to compete at the Hickstead All England Showing Jumping Arenas in May, where County Champions then compete for the National County Championship titles.

Good luck equestrians and many thanks to all the parents that coordinate, transport and support the students and their horses at these events.
