Tremendous spirit was shown over the weekend with the school Equestrian team, who were out in the chilly weather, competing at Bury Farm, Leighton Buzzard in eventer challenge and dressage disciplines.
All classes were Hickstead and National qualifiers, so the stakes were high. The dressage riders rode beautifully in the indoor arena and each combination achieved impressive scores in a tough section, finishing in the top 10. Sadly, no qualifier cards were taken home this time.
The jumping teams had already secured one set of qualifier tickets for the National County Finals for show jumping, earlier in the season and were hoping to add to their tally for their trip to the All England Jumping grounds in May.
Lucy Maudlin (Year 8) and Twister took an impressive Individual win in the 75cm class, with the Team finishing with a solid performance for 2nd place and claiming their ticket to Hickead. The 80cm Team followed up with a 2nd Team placing, with Jess Yeoman (Year 10) and Frank finishing Individual 2nd with their perfect round and another set of Hickstead tickets for all.
Dressage combinations – Matilda Bevan (Year) 7 riding Horace, Lucy Maudlin (Year 8) riding Twister and Jess Yeoman (Year 10) riding Frank.
Eventer combinations – Brooke Bendall (Year 8) riding Barney, Lucy Maudlin (Year 8) riding Twister, Jess Yeoman (Year 10) riding Frank, Emily Armitage (Lower Sixth) riding Belle and Izzy Perry (Year 11) riding Queenie.
