By Mrs Jackson (PE Teacher)
Last Saturday (20th May) saw our first ever block cricket fixtures. Having introduced cricket last summer, the PE department are now building on that to provide fixtures at all levels and across multiple formats.
The Junior School's softball pair matches against Witham Hall at Cople provide a great introduction to the sport for younger pupils, allowing them to develop their skills and enjoy the game.
For Year 7, a mixture of hardball and softball matches were played at the Perse. This provided a transitional phase for the students, allowing them to experience both formats and adapt to the increased challenges of hard ball cricket.
Meanwhile, the U14s and 1st XI teams played their matches at Oundle School, indicating the higher level of competition and the opportunity for more experienced players to showcase their skills.
In addition to the regular Saturday fixtures, it's exciting to hear that both the U15 and 1st XI teams are still competing in their respective cups. This showcases the talent and determination of your school's cricket teams and their potential for success in competitive matches.
Overall the PE department is actively developing the cricket program, catering to different age groups and offering a range of formats to suit players' needs and abilities.
As cricket develops at the school we are pleased to be using our new outdoor nets that were kindly funded by The Association.
