On Saturday 1 January, our talented U14 and U19 A teams represented Bedford Girls’ School at the England Netball Regional Finals, having successfully qualified through the county rounds.
The U14 team travelled to Stanborough School for the Regional Schools Finals, where they faced six pool matches. They secured five wins and lost just once by a single goal to the eventual tournament champions. Emily Foster was outstanding with her consistent and composed shooting under pressure, while Isabella Lepore impressed with her endurance, playing all but four minutes across eight matches and taking on the demanding centre position throughout. The team finished second in their pool and progressed to face Presdales, the winners of Pool F. In a tightly contested match, BGS held a narrow lead until the final two minutes, when Presdales capitalised on a turnover to edge the game by one goal. The team went on to play Samuel Whitbread in the third-place playoff, securing victory to finish a strong third overall.
The U19 team also competed at Stanborough School in the Regional Schools Tournament, facing tough opposition. They demonstrated resilience and teamwork throughout the competition, representing BGS with determination.
Congratulations to all our netballers on their achievements, and we look forward to seeing their continued success.
