Over half term students from Years 8 to Upper Sixth School hit the slopes in an unforgettable trip to one of the best ski areas in the Alps, Saalbach-Hinterglemm in Austria.

Trip leader, Mrs Martin (Head of Year 3) reflected on the experience:

“Embarking on a journey to Austria with 98 adventurous students and 11 staff members was a privilege. Among them, Mrs Smith worked tirelessly, ensuring every aspect of the trip ran smoothly. Mrs Bentley's loving care and nurturing spirit added warmth to our journey, reminding us of the importance of compassion.

“Our students demonstrated dedication, resilience, good humour and teamwork, supported by the patient guidance of staff members including Mrs Woolley, Mrs Howard, Dr Howe, Ms March, and Mrs Lovett. Mrs Lonsdale was always on hand with her medical supplies and Mr Gibson's consistent support and caring attitude were greatly appreciated, providing reassurance and help whenever necessary.

“Challenges, from mastering slopes to trudging back to the hostel after long sessions on the slopes were always met with enthusiasm. Inter-year bonds flourished as the students supported one another, while even the staff marvelled at their inter-year teamwork.

“Mealtimes offered shared experiences, with laughter and chatter filling the air. Evenings were filled with entertaining activities, including Mr Thurston’s quiz night (adorned with a special quiz night t-shirt!), and the fun games night, fostering camaraderie.

“We all returned happy, and pretty much injury-free, thanks to the vigilant care of our staff.” Together, we created lasting memories and demonstrated true teamwork. Looking forward to next year's adventure!”
