A final reminder that the (land-based) social pinnacle of the rowing calendar, the Rowing Ball, is taking place on Saturday 23rd March 2024. Everyone is welcome to attend, including our alumnae rowers and their families, and celebrate the successes of the BGS Boat Club. This annual event will be held again at the Mercure Bedford Centre Hotel from 7.00-1.30am.

We are delighted to announce that our guest speaker for this year is alumna and Chair of the Boat Race Company, Siobhan Cassidy (née McKenna, BHS 1990), who will be sharing her rowing journey from school into adulthood. Siobhan has held several leadership positions within rowing, notably both Vice-Chair and Chair of Cambridge University Women’s Boat Club, for whom she won a Blue in 1995 whilst a graduate at Homerton College. She has sat on the National Schools’ Regatta Committee for 17 years, working with colleagues to organise the largest junior rowing event in the UK. As a rower, Siobhan also represented Great Britain at Under 23 level, winning a bronze medal at the World Student Games.
