It has been an exciting and eventful week for Junior School musicians at Bedfordshire Festival of Music, Speech and Drama 2025.
On Saturday, Baby Bels, under the direction of Mrs Jones (Music Teacher), delivered a diverse and challenging programme that captivated both the audience and the adjudicator. Their performance opened with Five Eyes, followed by The Aquarium and Somewhere Out There. Their exceptional harmony singing was particularly praised and the group was awarded Honours for their outstanding performance.
Wednesday saw the Junior Orchestra take to the stage at the Bedford Corn Exchange, a feat in itself, given the logistics of assembling 35 pupils, their instruments and their music. Led by Mrs Parsons (Deputy Director of Music), they delivered three fantastic pieces: The Muppets, De Colores, and Ghostbusters. The adjudicator commended the group’s energy and enthusiasm (especially when shouting “Ghostbusters!”), with special recognition given to some standout solo performers within the ensemble.
Both groups rose to the occasion, performing with confidence and obvious enjoyment under the scrutiny of the adjudicator. It was wonderful to see these young musicians embrace the opportunity to play on a public stage.
For those who missed out on this week’s performances, there is another chance to hear them at the Easter Concert on Monday 24th March. This is a perfect opportunity to celebrate their hard work and success!
