Bedford Girls’ School has cause to celebrate today with another year of outstanding A Level results, adding to the impressive International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) results posted earlier this summer.  

49% of all Upper Sixth entries (IB and A Level combined) achieved an equivalent of A* or A grades. With 77% of all results reaching A*-B grades, 23% of the A Level cohort attained straight A*-A grades. 

In total, seven students have secured Oxbridge places (three IB and four A Level students) to study a diverse range of subjects including English, French, Geography, Medicine, Philosophy and Theology. 

Amongst a wide range of successes are Rachel Arrowsmith, who will take up a place to study Electronic Engineering at the University of Sheffield, and Hannah Hambleton-Jewell, who will study Veterinary Medicine at the University of Nottingham. 

Robyn Armstrong, who earlier this month secured a gold for the women’s GB team in the junior quadruple sculls crew at the Coupe De La Jeunesse rowing championships, achieved A*, A*, B and will go on to study Human Biology at Loughborough University.
