Sixth Form Business and Economics

By Mrs Simms (Business and Economics Teacher)

The Sixth Form Business and Economics Society took centre stage at the Christmas Fayre this year, showcasing the entrepreneurial spirit and creativity of our A Level students. Throughout the winter term, the girls dedicated their lunchtimes to developing innovative enterprise ideas, demonstrating both initiative and teamwork.

One team addressed the importance of sustainability by creating a less wasteful Christmas grotto. They collected donations from across the school, transforming them into a delightful second-hand grotto complete with an optional gift-wrapping service—a thoughtful touch that added significant value to their offering.

The second team focused on fostering school community spirit by running a house-wide Christmas colouring competition. The winning designs were compiled into a colouring book, which was entirely developed and produced by the students on minimal resources. The books sold really well at the fayre, demonstrating their hard work and creativity.

With additional attractions such as face painting and cookie decorating, the students created vibrant and engaging stalls that drew in crowds and maximised sales. Altogether, their efforts raised an impressive £352.50 for the school’s chosen charities.

This project was not only a fantastic demonstration of the practical skills and theoretical knowledge gained through the Business and Economics curriculum but also a testament to the students’ dedication, innovative thinking and community spirit. Congratulations to everyone involved!
