BGS has enjoyed much sporting success over the past couple of weeks.

Last Saturday (3rd October) the hockey teams went unbeaten against Bedford Modern School, with four wins and two draws. A combined U16 A/B team and firsts/seconds won 6-0 and 7-0 respectively.

In addition, the U14 hockey team have joined the U16 and U18 squads in being crowned county champions and progressing to the regional finals.

On Sunday, the Sixth Form quad recorded the fastest women's time of the day out of all the events at the St Neots Head, while Gabby Crawford and Jess Crook (both Upper Sixth) also won the single sculls category.

The Year 9 quad, who were racing competitively for the first time, won their event, with the second and third crews completing the podium.

For Year 10, the top crew came second in their event, while the second and thirds finished on the podium in the mini head.

Year 11 performed well, too, winning three out of five races and recording the fastest time of the day.

Furthermore, Georgi Rapley (Year 11, pictured above) and her horse Delphi Dazzler have qualified – as part of the Beds Byrdies team – for the British Dressage Team Quest National Finals at Bury Fam Equestrian Centre.

In tennis, the Years 8/9 team overcame a dramatic tie to book their place in the Regional Finals of the AEGON National Championships. With the match score level at 4-4 versus Leicester Grammar School, the girls came through a championship tie-break 10-6.
