BGS enjoyed a brilliant weekend of lacrosse – winning all but one of their matches against Abbot’s Hill at Beverley Crescent.

The U15 A team started their season with a resounding 19-1 win. The strength of the defence allowed the attack to make their mark and after some smart linking play in the midfield, BGS went on to score plenty of goals. Fleur Leech was particularly impressive, as she showed a deadly touch in front of the opponents’ goal.

The U15 B’s also won their first match of the season 11-2. A combination of both U14 and U15 players, the team knew they had to work cohesively in order to produce results. Standing up to the challenge, the girls dominated the midfield and produced some fantastic shots on goal. Captains Olivia Wright and Imogen Otley as well as Most Valuable Player Cara Nelson and goalkeeper Vicki Sadler, all impressed.

The U14 A side played well against their Abbot’s Hill counterparts to win 22-5. Led by captain Amy Chappelhow, the team worked tirelessly in the midfield to gain possession of the centre draw. The attackers were able to capitalise on the midfield possession by continuously peppering Abbot’s Hill’s goal. Special mentions go to Alice Baker as goalkeeper, Eleanor Bruce at centre and Alexa Wilson in attack.

The U13 A outfit produced some outstanding passing and catching to win 24-1 in a real team effort. The U13 B’s then played Abbots Hill’s A team in an exciting match. The final score was a 7-6 win to Abbot’s Hill but Kady Jones and Sabira Egan played brilliantly in their first lacrosse match for BGS. Ella Kirkup came away with a well-deserved Most Valuable Player – picked by her opponents.

The U12 A lacrosse team played their first ever lacrosse match at the weekend. All the girls worked hard for their team and some fantastic goals were scored. Sophia Gallagher led the team by example, with Lucy Liu voted Most Valuable Player by the opposition. The final result was 11-1 to BGS.
