Bedford Girls’ School’s annual Rowing Ball was held at the Park Inn on Friday (29th Friday), which drew a record turnout.

With the event presenting girls, parents and staff the opportunity to come together and reflect on the previous year’s achievements, a great evening was enjoyed by all.

After a three-course meal, adventurer Elin Haf Davies, who raises money for medical research for children’s illnesses, inspired the audience with tales of her experiences of rowing across the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, as well as sailing across the Indian Ocean.

Elin then presented a numbers of awards, which saw Gaby Crawford winning both the Athletes Choice and Upper Sixth Performer trophies. Other winners included Hollie Muldownie and Jess Crook (both Dedication to Rowing), Lily Hudson (Most Improved Rower) and Erin Knight (Most Promising Rower).

Miss Round, Head of Rowing, said: “It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves. It’s been an incredibly successful year for BGS on the water, and the girls and the coaches deserved to be recognised and have their moment in the spotlight.

“It was also an honour to have Elin speak on the night. She’s an inspirational lady and a fabulous example for the girls to follow.”
