Bedford Girls’ School’s annual Rowing Ball was held at the Park Inn on Friday (3rd February).

With the event presenting girls, parents and staff the opportunity to come together and reflect on the previous year’s achievements, a great evening was enjoyed by all.

After a three-course meal, Olympic silver medallist Vicky Thornley (pictured with Loire McBreen (left) and Jenny Ecart (right)), who starred in Rio alongside Great Britain legend Katherine Grainger in the women’s double scull, spoke about her journey in rowing, and what it took to finish on the podium in Brazil.

Miss Round said: “It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves. It’s been an incredibly successful year for BGS on the water, and the girls and the coaches deserved to be recognised and have their moment in the spotlight.

“It was also an honour to have Vicky speak on the night. She’s an inspirational lady and a fabulous example for the girls to follow.”
