Mrs Hoar (Challenge and Extend Co-ordinator)

Since February 2017, several of our Sixth Form have enjoyed the ongoing experience of an independent learning challenge; the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).

The EPQ is an opportunity for A Level students, to extend and enrich their learning through research and enquiry. It is carried out independently, but alongside existing A Levels and is an independent learning journey with a range of possible outcomes, which are shared through the medium of a written dissertation or an artefact.

As the project draws to a conclusion for our current Upper Sixth girls, this week we have enjoyed their final presentations, showcasing a fantastic range projects. From exploring the possibility of eradicating Bovine TB in the UK to discussing the extent that the Russian Revolution had on the progression of Russian Visual Art, each project is highly personalised and demonstrates a superb understanding of the girls’ chosen subject matter.

I am very proud of how the girls have risen to the challenges of all aspects of this qualification. We hope to publish the work later this year, so watch this space!
