Arielle Adams and Millie Hoar (Lower Sixth)
Last Thursday, nine Sixth Form students travelled to London with Mrs Hooley (Head of Economics and Business Studies) and spent the day at the London Stock Exchange (LSEG). We were lucky enough to meet and talk to several women who work in a wide range of roles within the LSEG ranging from the primary market, human resources, emerging technology and sales.
The talks from these inspiring women were incredibly informative and we have come away with a new knowledge and understanding of the LSEG, as well as the plethora of opportunities it offers. Through discussing their own career paths, they gave us an insight into the truly vast world of finance and the opportunity for movement and progression. It was also made clear during the day that women are taking up a more prominent roles in the finance sector. With WIN or Women Inspired Network (the LSEG women’s initiative) receiving backing from executives and pledging to have a 40% female senior staff by 2020.
The whole experience was incredibly inspiring and motivational for all of us who are looking to pursue a career in finance.
