In celebration of World Book Day girls and teachers alike dressed up as their favourite book characters, with characters from fairy tales proving the most popular. Some of our more memorable costumes included little red riding hood, the three little pigs, Mary Poppins, all four teletubbies, a giant dragon and Dumbledore complete with a long grey beard.

In the Junior School, they celebrated with a special World Book Day assembly, which involved all year groups showing off their costumes on a parade walk. The Junior School library held book themed craft activities and gathered entries for this year’s Radio 2 500 words writing competition.

Their imaginations and creative writing skills were challenged in writing an original and unique story.  All that entered received a certificate and a chance to attend the final at Windsor Castle.

At the Senior School, girls decorated the Sixth Form bridge with card padlocks dedicated to books they loved, Years 7-9 were invited to enter a bumper world book day quiz and the library was transformed into a beautiful reading garden where staff and pupils read aloud to an attentive audience.
