Senior School Swimming

Mr Castro (Head of Swimming)

On Saturday 16th November, eight girls travelled to the London Aquatics Centre to compete in the annual Secondary School Team Relay National Championships.

BGS had teams competing in the Intermediate (U16) and Seniors (U18) competition. In the Intermediate age group, the swimmers put in a fantastic effort in freestyle heat and qualified for the final where they placed 8th overall.  This was a great team effort from Annabel Mullooly (Year 10), Jasmine Brakenbury (Year 10), Lulu Donaghy (year 10) and Lucy Young (Year 9). In the Medley event the girls finished a respectable 19th in the heats.

In the Senior events the team made up of Eloise Bailey (Upper Sixth), Izzy Jones (Year 11), Autumn Handscombe (Year 11) and Rebecca Knibb (Year 11) raced very well, and in both the freestyle and medley relays placed 28th and 22nd respectively.

It was a great day out for the BGS Swim team and all the girls really enjoyed competing against some of the very best swimmers in the country.
