Many congratulations to the Bedford Ladies 1st hockey stars, Sarah-Jane McDonald (née Darrington, BHS Alumna 2003), Emily Allen (BGS Alumna 2019), Alice Baker (Upper Sixth), Miss Higginson (PE teacher) and Kate Costin (BHS Alumna 2003).
The players have made history by qualifying for Division 2 of the Jaffa Super 6s - the premier Indoor Hockey Championship in England.
After a tough weekend of matches (4th – 5th January), the Ladies 1st team took three wins out of five, placing them third in their pool, and for the first time in the Club’s history, we saw the team qualify for Division 2 of the Super 6s. They will be competing in the next round at Nottingham this weekend.
Mr Mason-McLeod (Head of Hockey) said: “It is great to see so many students, staff and alumnae represent Bedford Hockey Club, and other local clubs both indoors and outdoors and something we really encourage the girls to do. Playing indoor hockey really develops the girls' hockey skills and is a great game to watch and play. Good luck to the girls that are playing this Saturday and Sunday in the National Division 2 playoffs.”
