Mrs Howlett (Deputy Head of PE)

The BGS cross country team continued their fine form in the long distance running season. BGS placed first overall across all girls’ teams in the Bedfordia Cross Country and Partnership Cross Country events this season.

On Wednesday 29th January, the team took to the muddy trails of the Cross Country Partnership District event at Sharnbrook Academy.

The longer course for this event had perfect conditions with glorious sunshine and good to soft ground. The athletes produced fantastic team results with the Years 6/7 and 8/9 teams placing first overall. Individual results included a top podium finish for Jessica Parrish (Year 7), Rosie Foster-Glennon (Year 8) placed second and a Holly Smith (Lower Sixth) placed third.

By finishing in the top 16 in their race, the following thirteen athletes (click here) have qualified to represent North Bedfordshire at the County Championships at Ampthill Park on Wednesday 12th February.

Congratulations to all girls who have represented the school's cross country team this term. It takes true grit and determination to succeed in this sport and they have all shown this in abundance.
