Many congratulations to our Year 9 hockey stars on their selections for the England Hockey U15 Performance Centre.

The most recent addition, Megan Howlett, was selected for the programme following a successful trial on Monday 27th January. She now joins her Cambridge City U14 teammate, Lauren Whitlock, Natasha Miller and Amelia Barrow-Jones, who were selected for the programme in September 2019. The Year 9 team are looking for a strong team performance at their forthcoming National Finals in the England Hockey Tier 2 Competition. It is the first year of entering this competition and the girls have a great chance of clinching a National title.

Both Natasha and Amelia currently represent the Bedford Senior Ladies 2nd team. Amelia has also made the selection Bedford 1st team who play National League. Being selected for the England Performance Centre gives these girls the opportunity to access regular training at the Northwood Centre with the hope of being selected for the Futures Cup in the summer.

Mr Mason-McLeod, Head of Hockey at BGS, said: “Being part of the England Hockey programme is a massive achievement for the girls and the school. We wish all our students the best of luck on their journeys on the England Hockey Pathway.”
