Madame Helm (Head of MFL)
This week, the Senior School and Sixth Form are celebrating the European Day of Languages (which was Saturday 26th September) with some form time activities and two very important competitions in the MFL calendar.
We had to adapt our traditional Big International Bake Off, but as usual the girls have responded to the challenge and we’ve already got some very promising entries. With the weather forecast indicating rain this weekend and a fairly low temperature, why not spend a bit of time ‘en famille’ baking your masterpiece for the House competition. The deadline is Monday 5th October and all entries should be dropped in your house folder here. We’re definitely sad we will not get to taste the amazing entries but looking forward to a virtual visual feast!
In Form Time this week, students have been reminded of nine reasons why learning a language is so essential in today’s world and how important learning a foreign language is to understand other cultures. The girls enjoyed doing an Escape Room activity and participating in a quiz and various linguistic tasks to crack the code and ‘escape’ the room and some Eurovision songs as Feel Good Friday vibes were most welcome.
Finally, students can also show their creativity with our second competition. We would love to see your entries for the European Day of Languages 2020 T-shirt, which should show a love of language(s) (not countries but languages this time). I am sure you will agree that it would be nice to see your design being made in a T-shirt. Again, the school deadline for this competition is Monday 5th October.
Que le meilleur gagne et bonne chance!
