Madame Helm (Head of MFL)

In celebration of European Day of Languages, our creative pupils and one member of staff (thank you Miss Lewandoski) took part in a Virtual Bake Off with the theme being European or International flavours.

The standard and amount of entries was high given it was a virtual competition. Not only did the creations look fantastic and original, they also ‘seemed’ to taste amazing, and would have no doubt provided some wonderful desserts and snacks this last weekend. Last year, all our winning cakes were inspired from Spain but this year we had loads of French inspired entries and the most represented country/food was the pizza cake including one of our winner cakes!

Congratulations to the following top three:

First place: Nightingale – Molly Hyman (Year 6), Italian Pizza Cake.

Second place: Franklin – Leyla Nurettin (Year 10), Turkish Kek.

Third place: Chanel – Molly Folbigg (Year 7), Netherlands Cake.

Overall the house with the most and best entries was Nightingale.

All other entries were highly commended as you can see there were some really talented bakers in BGS. Click here to view these entries.

We also run in parallel another virtual European Day of Languages T-shirt competition and the winner for this is Ella Turner (Upper Sixth) in Hepburn. Highly commended are Hanifah Miah (Year 10) in Hepburn, Mimi Collier (Upper Sixth) in Nightingale and Romina Johnson (Upper Sixth) in Parks.

I would like to remind these students that they also need to enter their entry for the real European Day of Languages competition here.
