Talented golfer Roisin Scanlon (Year 8) produced a fine golfing display to retain the Bedfordshire Schools U16 and U18 Girls Scratch Championship on Wednesday 28th October.

This year’s championship was held at the Aspley Guise and Woburn Sands Golf Club. The competition started in bright sunshine but after three hours, it to be had to be cut to nine holes after thunder and lightning caused the course to be closed.

Roisin shot a front nine 42, in difficult windy and heavy showery rain conditions to beat Sommer Chan (Linslade Academy) by two shots. She will go forward to represent Bedfordshire Schools at the NASUWT SE Schools U18 Championships and also in the NASUWT England Schools U16 Championship in June and July 2021.

Roisin said: “It was a great experience and a testing golf course, which made it even more challenging with heavy downpour. I was thrilled to retain both my trophies from previous years.”
