Mrs Winter (Head of Dance)

On Thursday 29th October, there was a world global celebration to bring together and unite the World’s love of ballet. World Ballet Day, which was launched in 2014 highlights the beauty, grace, value and richness of this discipline which provided such poignant entertainment for audiences. It has evolved and adapted enormously from its origins as far back as the 1400’s in The French and Italian Courts, when women were not allowed to show their ankles and men wore elaborate costumes. These performances were delivered by the nobility alongside speech, verse, song and pageant

I am delighted to say that Ballet has continued to flourish here at BGS, despite the restrictions, and we now have the largest number of girls on record taking part in co-curricular Ballet as they prepare for their Royal Academy of Dance Ballet Examinations with Mrs D’Arcy . As we are unable to present our Dance Concert Live this year we will be sharing some of the girls work through virtual platforms later in the year.
