Mr Keating-Roberts (Director of Music)

After the success of the Winter Olympics held in February it is was now the turn of Music, Dance and Drama.

During the afternoon of the beginning of the term Years 7-9 took time away from their remote learning timetable to engage in an afternoon of Performing Arts activities ranging from Lip Synching Challenges with a Mother’s Day theme, a Strictly Come Dancing challenges through to devising their  own monologues. The Afternoon provided a veritable smorgasbord of fun expressive activities for our students and staff to get involved in.

There was a plethora of House points earned by the students that took part demonstrating how well they engaged with the challenges adding to their house totals and it very evident that our students thoroughly enjoyed themselves and appreciated the opportunity to let off some steam, have some fun and take a break, with activities that appeared to suit everybody.

The afternoon began with a physical/vocal warm up at 1:50pm led by yours truly, where students and staff donned their leotards, leg warmers, headbands etc. a la Fame to get involved as part of the challenge was to dress in Performing Arts themed costumes before embarking on the various performing arts challenges available for the afternoon.

We had some amazingly creative responses which included some stop motion films, full music videos that would rival professionally produced artists and students that collaborated together producing group performances which really helped to embody the sense of community and togetherness that occasion like this can offer.

I was so impressed with the enthusiasm that was shown by our students and the immensely creative and positive work that was submitted you should all be extremely proud.
