Many congratulations to talented writer, Lucie Bridgman (Lower Sixth), whose script School of Nightmares, has been selected for 2021 Reel Girls Film Festival.
The Reel Girls Film Festival is the first-ever all-girls international student film festival, devoted entirely to encouraging and supporting young female filmmakers. The festival believes that a community devoted to young female filmmakers allows them to thrive and develop their unique voices and visions, these are the roots for establishing gender equality in the film industry.
Lucie reflected: “I entered the competition because people put a lot of emphasis on women being underrepresented in STEM but no one talks about how underrepresented female scriptwriters and directors are. The competition is for school age girls so they can make connections with young women
writers, showing them that other female filmmakers do exist.
“My script, School of Nightmares, follows the story of Jessica. It is set in the modern world where magic wielders, vampires and werewolves have learnt to hide their non-human characteristics and are living next to humans. Jessica accidentally reveals her magic and is sent to a correction school to teach her how to hide her powers.”
