Congratulations to BGS Lacrosse Coach and England Goal Keeper, Mrs Greenwood, who remained unbeaten in the inaugural Home Nations 6s on Saturday the 28th August. The Home Nations 6s event was the first International competition for the newly approved Olympic Lacrosse rules. The women's and men's teams of England, Scotland, and Wales played several matches in the inaugural event at the Peffermill Fields in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Mrs Greenwood reflected: “The game of 6s is fast with little time to think. It challenges even the best players mentally and physically with the up and down pace. 30 Seconds of possession time to score a goal can make even the most seasoned players antsy, but once you realise you'll in theory get equal possession time you can relax. The games are high scoring and exciting for spectators and to play in. While I participated in the England Lacrosse Event 'The Fly' this summer, the dynamic was different, with all the nations mixed in league teams. This event we had a mixed squad of Seniors and women representing England for the first time on the team and everyone handled the weekend with passion and drive. I'm so thankful to be a part of this inaugural team and couldn't have asked for a better first International 6s experience. Here's to looking ahead to the World Games in 2022 and maybe even the Olympics in 2028!”
