Miss Bruce (Director of Rowing)
We have kicked off a strong season of rowing with students making the most of this beautiful weather. The sunrise was particularly lovely before school Thursday morning as all the rowers were boating in their single sculls.
The rowers are currently training for the first race of the season, St Neots Small Boats Head on Sunday 10th October where those sculling skills will hopefully be put into practice.
We are also so lucky to have the continued support from the Friends of Bedford Girls' School Rowing Club (FBGSRC). You can usually find them along the banks at events offering tea, coffee and treats out of our BGS gazebo and being the loudest supporters around. The amount they do for the boat club is huge and this allows us to hold events such as our annual rowing ball, our 24-hour ergo challenge and offering hot chocolate and bacon rolls on a Saturday morning, just to name a few. All the fundraising and donations enable the boat club to continually grow and evolve.
The FBGSRC are always looking to welcome new parents to come along to join in where they can. Join us this Saturday for bacon rolls and hot chocolate after your daughter’s training session.
