Senior School Hockey

Mr Mason-McLeod (Head of Hockey)

It’s been a fantastic Autumn term of hockey with the Years 3-Upper Sixth improving on their skills in each lesson, with many having the opportunity to represent the school in competitive fixtures for the very first time.

The Year 6 A-d teams had a great time playing against King’s Ely and demonstrated outstanding play, passing the ball accurately and quickly. They ended with two wins, one draw and a very close loss.

The 1st team had fixtures versus Stowe and Queenswood, winning both matches. The 2nds have had two close matches against King’s High and Bedford Modern School (BMS). The U15A were unbeaten against BMS and Queenswood, the U15Bs drew with BMS, U14As beat BMS, and U14Bs drew against BMS.

The U13As and U13Bs both had wins against Queenswood, the U13C, D and Es are all unbeaten with wins against BMS and Queenswood. The U12B-Es are all unbeaten and the U12As beat Queenswood last Saturday. The U13A-D have matches this Saturday against Stephen Perse and the U12A-D have internal fixtures.

At BGS, we give every student the opportunity that turns up to practice the chance to represent the school, and we are very proud to put out A-E teams in many age groups and cater for the elite and the beginners who are starting their hockey careers. We would love to see more students of all abilities come to lunch time and after school hockey practices.
