Miss Huckle (Head Rowing Coach)

On Saturday 6th November. 22 students headed to the most prestigious river in the UK, to compete at the Henley Sculls.

An event which has taken place since 1971, the Henley Sculls are held over a course of approximately 3,000 metres upstream from the bottom of Greenlands to the Royal Regatta finish.

Racing on the Henley Regatta course in some difficult conditions, all the crews put in strong performances. With a 9th place finish in the U18 event and a 6th place finish in the U16 event, progressing on our overall finishing positions last season.

With the absence of racing over the past couple of years, this was one of the first Head Races for many of our students, and they certainly did themselves and BGS proud.

We now look forward to our next event, Star Head, on Sunday 21st November. This event is held on Bedford’s river, the River Great Ouse, and it would be fantastic to see lots of BGS supporters lining the banks!
