Miss Huckle (Head Rowing Coach)
On Sunday 21st November, 85 BGS students competed on home water at Star Head. This was the highest number of rowers BGS has had compete at one single event for a number of years.
With a very first race for many, and our senior squad boating in eights for the first time in over three years, it was an exciting day for BGS Boat Club. All crews competed well, showing all of the hard work that they have put in over the past few months is paying off. Our overall results saw BGS finish second or third in all categories entered, a step on from our summer term racing.
A special mention to our Year 9 rowers who raced for the very first time, our year 10 quad who narrowly missed out on a win by 2 seconds and our senior eights who managed to tie for a 2nd place finish for BGS in their first sweep oar race.
Finally, on behalf of the whole Boat Club and coaching team, a huge thank you to all parents, staff and supporters who lined the bank on a chilly Sunday – it was fantastic to return to hear much BGS support!
