Miss Huckle (Head Rowing Coach)

After the resounding success of the inaugural 2019 24-hour ergo, the BGS crews were looking forward to testing their stamina again in 2021, and this year rowers took on the Super 8s Challenge!

Last weekend saw over 60 rowers exercised non-stop for 8 hours, in teams of eight, completing eight different activities; rowing, cycling, running, circuit training, dancing, yoga, skipping and ball skills. All the rowers had a fantastic day, working hard to raise money for the Boat Club, culminating in a fantastic finale in the Christmas Fayre!

The rowers put in a brilliant effort, and we are delighted that the current fundraising total stands at an amazing £1,195.

A huge thanks to the Friends of Bedford Girls' School Rowing Club (FBGSRC), which exists to support the students – both on the riverbank and through fundraising. They raise funds for new boats, as well as for essential performance enhancing kit such as stroke meters and cox boxes.

If you are a current rowing parent, and wish to join the FBGSRC, please do contact Miss Bruce (Director of Rowing) or I , or should you wish to donate to the Super 8s Challenge, you can follow the link here.

BGS rowers now look forward to some Christmas Holiday training, and a well-deserved Christmas break before they return to school and hit the main part of the winter racing season.

On behalf of our rowers, and all of the coaching team, we would like to take the opportunity to thank all parents, friends and staff who have supported the Boat Club so far this season and wish you all a very Merry Christmas!
