Whole School Community

Miss Dawson (Biology Teacher and CAS & Service Coordinator)

Before Christmas, Lower Sixth students Ellie Castell, Kimya Ghods, Annabel Mullooly and Scarlet Stokes took the warm clothing donated by the school community to a Saturday Outreach Squad (SOS) evening outreach session.

The outreach initiative is a community interest company set up to work with members of the homeless community, who do not necessarily access more traditional methods of outreach.  At this evening outreach session, our students were involved in providing a hot meal to service users, as well as giving them fresh and long-life food, and clothing and shoes to take away.

Kimya Ghods said: “Following our Ready to Lead project, which focused on helping the local homeless community, we wanted to help make a difference and support those people in times of crisis. We decided to volunteer at the Saturday Outreach Service; and gave out hot food, snacks, clothing and toiletries. This was an insightful experience; we got to meet different people and hear their stories. We all enjoyed this experience and will be volunteering there again shortly.”
